Moran Toder / Medicine

First degree in Medicine at the Technion.

Prticipated in the Technion Excellence Program: October 2007 – July 2010.

Since 2008 Moran has been working as a research assistant in Prof. Adi Salzberg’s Developmental Genetics laboratory at the Rappaport Institution of Medical Science. She worked mainly in the area of mutation characterization, as seen from the molecular aspect, and the gene expression followed by it. Currently she is interested in muscle development and degeneration both in the molecular and pathological aspects. As part of the work in the lab, the following articles were published, both in Developmental Biology journal:

1. The proprioceptive and contractile systems in Drosophila are both patterned by the EGR family transcription factor Stripe. (Jan. 2010)

Klein Y, Halachmi N, Egoz-Matia N, Toder M, Salzberg A.

2. Spatial regulation of cell adhesion in the Drosophila wing is mediated by Delilah, a potent activator of βPS integrin expression. (Mar. 2011)

Egoz-Matia N, Nachman A, Halachmi N, Toder M, Klein Y, Salzberg A.

Recommendation: “I think that the most important contribution the Excellence Program had on my study is in my way of thinking. It gave me the chance and encouraged me to do and learn more. It exposed me to different people and ideas and showed me that there is always time and place to see things in unique and inventive way even if you are only an undergraduate.”

Today (2012): Moran is a 5th year medical student.
