Miel Sharf / Mathematics

B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mathematics.

Ph.D. in Aeronautical engineering under the guidance of Prof. Daniel Zelazo, in the field of distributed control.

Participated in the Technion Excellence Program: 2012-2013.

About the Program: I enjoyed the academic freedom that the program allowed, taking advanced courses in Math early on as well as courses from many different faculties. It also helped me take guided reading courses, and also participate in an applied math research in optimal transport and optimization under Prof. Koby Rubinstein’s guidance.

Other than that, the special lectures were interesting, and I met a lot of really nice people, including some of my best friends, at the awesome social events.

Recommendations to Participants: Try to make the most out of your time in the program – diversify your curriculum and learn stuff out of your comfort zone, but also try to reach depth in subjects that you think can be interesting for a master’s degree. However, the most important thing is to not rush and overload yourselves – leave enough time to enjoy the courses you are taking.

Today (2020): A postdoctoral researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. I research formal verification methods in networked control theory, as well as detection and mitigation of cyber attacks on control systems.
