What impact did the program have on your professional life?

The program inspired me to always look at existing problems from new angles, to be open to exciting opportunities in other domains, and to try and find the common ground between topics from seemingly unrelated disciplines. I joined the program in my second year as a math student, when I was keen on studying abstract and theoretical mathematics. Through the program, I was first exposed to the beauty and rigor of other domains, as well as having my first opportunity to conduct research while still in my bachelor's degree (about applied mathematics and optics). The tools I developed with support of the program allowed me to conduct research at a high level in various disciplines, ranging from abstract mathematics, statistics and computer science all the way to energy, economics and electrical engineering.

Your message to the new generation of students in the program:

Use the prestige and renown associated with the program to take courses that you otherwise couldn't, or work with professors on research projects while still being in your Bachelor's - learning how to research is a topic of its own that requires effort and experience to master; Attend the additional lectures and gathering provided by the program, as it's a superb way to encounter new ideas, methods, or applications; When you choose to focus on a specific area for advanced research, you should contact program alumni that are working in that area - we don't bite, and there's a good chance you'll get some advice for the road ahead, and establish connections that'll prove useful in the future.
