First degree in Electrical Engineering and Physics at the Technion.
Participated in the Technion Excellence Program: 2008-2011
As a student of the Program, Elad made use of several of the Program’s advantages:
* In his 5th semester (spring 2009/10) he took an advanced studies course, Physics of Lasers.
* During the summer of 2010 he worked in the research group of Dr. Oren Cohen from the Solid State Institute. His research was in the field of Signal Processing and Microscopy, and it included realization of an algorithm to reconstruct phases of diffraction images and running simulations for process optimization. As part of the group, they wrote the paper “Far-field microscopy of sparse sub-wavelength objects” (http://arxiv.org/abs/1010.0631), and ” Sparsity-based single-shot sub-wavelength coherent diffractive imaging”, published in NATURE MATERIALS in April 2012.
* As an EE undergraduate student, Elad chose to perform a final project in the SIPL lab. The project copes with the problem of detection a moving cast shadow in images and videos. As part of the lab, they wrote the paper “Moving shadow detection by nonlinear tone mapping”, that was published and presented by him in the IWSSIP conference for the year 2012. In addition, Elad is currently working on another paper, also resulting from this EE project.
Today (2012): Elad has started his army service as an academic reserve, and plans on completing his MSc during that.
