Evyatar Reif / Technion Excellence Program

About myself: I was born in 2001 in Tel Aviv where I grew up. I went to “Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium” high school where I studied Computer Science, Physics, Application development, and Advanced Bible studies. I also had the chance to take part in “Nir School of the Heart” – a Harvard-MIT program that brings together Palestinians, Jordanians, and Israelis to study medicine and specifically cardiology. The program was amazing, helping me connect with fellow teenagers whose lives are very similar to mine, while being completely different at the same time.

After high school I took part in Tel Aviv University’s camp for innovation –  a 3 week program in which Israeli and Chinese students explore both countries and meet highly accomplished people in order to learn from them.

I enlisted in December 2019 for the 595th battalion in the Combat Intelligence Corps. The battalion is part of the Unit of Target-Intelligence (יחמ”מ) which is responsible for aggregating a target bank of the IDF through visual intelligence. I was in Commander’s course afterward I was assigned as a drill sergeant for the March 2021 recruits class. After 8 months my recruits graduated from Advanced Training, and I served the rest of my conscription as their commander in the operational line on the Syrian border.

After being discharged I began working in a NYC based company that specializes in crypto currencies. I worked there for a year as a junior full stack software developer.

Hobbies and other activities: Ever since I was a kid I loved playing basketball and watching the NBA (go Pelicans!). I also enjoy reading books, and solving crossword puzzles.

When did you start the program?  Winter 2023.
