Natan Wiegenfeld / Physics, Mathematics

About myself: I was born in New York City in 2006. My mother is Belgian and my father is Israeli, but I grew up in the greater New York area. We moved to Israel in the beginning of 2021. I have always loved science and engineering, first as lead architect of complex lego universes with my brothers at home, then through VEX robotics and maker spaces in Middle School at Rye Country Day School, and lastly as programming captain for the Falcons in the First Robotics competition at the Walworth Barbour American International School (“WBAIS) in Even Yehuda.

In 2021, while attending high school remotely in the US during the evening hours, I completed a Full Stack Programming Bootcamp at the Developers Institute in Tel Aviv. I followed an accelerated AP curriculum at WBAIS focusing on Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry and am very excited to continue my path towards discovering science at the Technion.

Hobbies and other activities: I play classical piano, and while studying at Ichimura School of Music I have had the opportunity to perform at the Steinway Hall and the Weill recital hall at Carnegie Hall in NYC. One of my favorite pieces is Grande Sonate Pathétique Op.13 by Beethoven. I discovered squash in 6th grade and have loved it ever since. I play competitively on the Israeli Junior National Team, and competed most recently in the 2022 Maccabiah Games and the 2022 Junior Mediterranean Squash Games.

When did you start the program?: Winter 2022.
