Mechanical Forces in Living Systems
How do cells sense and respond to mechanical forces? This talk will explore the physical mechanisms by which mechanical forces and extracellular matrix mechanics regulate cellular and tissue behavior in development, health, and disease.

In collaboration with the Lapidin and Emet Excellence Programs, we will explore one of Moran’s most fascinating research projects: ‘Building with Liquids in Weightlessness – From the Lab to the International Space Station.

“The Human Limits of the Human Being. On Architecture, Robots, and a few Algorithms”
Aaron Sprecher is associate professor at the Technion Faculty of Architecture, where he founded the Material Topology Research Laboratory . His research and design work focus on the synergy between media theories and computational design examining the way in which technology generates transdisciplinary approaches to design processes.

“Learning without a brain”
Living systems at all levels, even single cells, can adapt to unforeseen challenges for which they have not been designed. They have in them complex and plastic networks, such as genetic and biochemical networks. Can we think of them as learning systems, without neurons or brains? What can support such learning, and what are its implications?

Prof. Rosenberg is a senior physician in neuro-oncology, head of the Computational Cancer Biology Lab, and a leader in applying artificial intelligence to personalized medicine in oncology. He also heads the AI in Oncology Unit and the Purple Track for a dual degree in Medicine and Computer Science at the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University. And of course, most importantly – he is a graduate of the program.

For our annual trip, we took a break from the usual routine and headed out for a fun day in nature at Ein Yizrael and HaKibbutzim Stream. We started with a relaxed walk by the spring at Ein Yizrael, soaking in the green views and peaceful vibes. Then we made our way to HaKibbutzim Stream, where we cooled off in the water and enjoyed a refreshing splash through the stream.
It was the perfect mix of chill, laughs, and good company. Thanks to everyone who joined – already looking forward to the next one!
