Alex Finkelshtein / Mathematics

First degree in Physics and Mathematics at the Technion.

M.Sc. at the Physics Faculty at the Technion
Participated in the Technion Excellence Program: October 2002 – October 2004.

Alex included advanced courses without taking preliminary courses needed for them.

He took a joint program (with math) in order to acquire a more solid understanding of theoretical aspects of physics.

After finishing the program, he served for 5 years in a technological division in MOD at algoritmics / system engineering position.

Today (2012):  Alex finished his M.Sc. at the Physics Faculty at the Technion under the supervision of Dr. Yariv Kafri.

In his research, Alex tries to build theoretical models of sequence-specific interactions of DNA molecules using the methods of statistical mechanics, in particular the theory of random walks in random environments .He works at the military industry.

Recommendation to Program participants: "try to balance between pursuing what you're good at, and being curious about the things you have no idea of"
