First degree in Electrical Engineering at the Technion.
Participated in the Technion Excellence Program: 1996 – 1999
He was accepted into the Program because he had already taken courses in other recognized academic institutions and for that reason he started with 70 academic credits, and so he essentially jumped straight into the 3rd year of study, and being in the program helped in getting the professors to let him do that (he did have to take tests in everything, but thanks to the program he didn't have to attend the classes – which let him speed through). In 6 semesters (2 years + 2 summers) he finished his Bsc, and more than half of the Msc hearing requirements (which he did not eventually finish, unfortunately).
Recommendation to Program participants: "Use it! It took me a while to not be shy when I came to professors and say stuff like, 'I'm in the Excellence program. Although I don't have the formal credits, I already know this – what can I do to speed things up?' Most of the time, the words “I'm in the program” were the difference between 'You have to do it like everyone else' and 'Take the previous semester's Moed B' and if you score above 90 you are good to go'. Also, find a good research subject and mentor on day one! I didn't look to start doing research early enough."
Today (2012): Ori and Uri Kariv, also a Program graduate, started a star -up called "Safer Place" , designed to create safer roads through the use of advanced technology such ascomputer vision.
